2008-09 Points of Pride
Two teams have earned Landmark Conference Championships in 2008-09: field hockey and women's volleyball. Both teams are repeating as Landmark Conference champions. For women's volleyball, the 2008 Landmark title was its 28th consecutive conference championship.
Men's volleyball won its sixth Molten Division III Championship, winning both its semifinal and championship matches by 3-0 scores. Juniata earned the number two seed for the EIVA Tournament and went on to face Penn State in the tournament championship match. In doing so, Juniata became the first NCAA Division III program to play in a match where an NCAA Championship automatic berth was on the line.
Women's basketball won the ECAC Division III South Region Tournament, winning the first post-season championship in program history. The Eagles finished the season with an 18-11 overall record, the program's second straight 18-win season, and reached the Landmark Conference tournament for the second consecutive year.
Women's soccer finished among the top four in conference round-robin play, earning a slot in the Landmark Conference tournament - the second straight year that Juniata women's soccer has advanced to the post-season.
Softball qualified for the Landmark Conference Tournament, and went on to earn the top-seed and right to host the ECAC South Region Tournament - the program's first post-season appearances since 2004. Juniata softball finished with a 24-15 record, setting a new program record for most wins in a season.
Men's tennis posted an 11-8 record, just the third 10-win season in program history, and earned a slot in the Landmark Conference Tournament. The conference tourney berth marked Juniata's third post-season appearance in the last four seasons.
Juniata women's tennis set a program record for wins with its 13-6 mark. Juniata earned the number two seed for the Landmark Conference Tournament, and hosted Goucher College in a semifinal match.
Three Juniata teams have advanced to NCAA post-season competition in 2008-09: women's volleyball (NCAA), women's cross country (NCAA), and men's cross country (NCAA).
A total of 68 Juniata student-athletes have earned All-Conference honors in either the Centennial Conference (football), EIVA (men's volleyball) or Landmark Conference during 2008-09:

Head coaches Jon Cutright (Women's Outdoor Track and Field) and Beth Bleil (Women's Tennis) earned Landmark Conference Coach of the Year honors in 2008-09.
Men's volleyball coach Jeremy Price was named the AVCA's Division III Men's Volleyball Coach of the Year - just the second time a Juniata men's volleyball coach has earned the award.
Amber Thomas was named the AVCA's Division III Player of the Year, becoming the third Eagle women's volleyball player to earn the award.
Three Juniata student-athletes - Amber Thomas (WVB), Beth Kozak (WVB), and Tara Carl (softball) earned slots on the ESPN The Magazine/College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District teams in 2008-09. Kozak was a third team selection in women's volleyball for the second year in a row, while Thomas was a first team selection. Carl was a third team honoree in softball.
11 Juniata student-athletes earned a nod on Landmark Conference All-Academic Teams in 2008-09. Fall All-Academic Team members were: Aaron Bray (men's soccer), Cassie Dickmann (women's volleyball), Christine Schott (women's soccer), and Sam Williams (men's cross country). Winter All-Academic honorees were: Jeff Berkey (men's basketball), Emily Hauser (women's basketball), Meghan Jones (women's indoor track and field), and Sam Williams (men's indoor track and field). Williams became Juniata's first two-time All-Academic Team selection in the Landmark. Spring All-Academic selections were Alyssa Erb (softball), Laura Rupprecht (women's outdoor track & field), Ryan Johnson (men's outdoor track & field), and Matt Sullivan (baseball).
Amber Thomas (women's volleyball) and Kelsey Buffenmyer (women's indoor track & field) were named Landmark Conference Senior Scholar-Athletes, becoming just the second and third Juniata student-athletes to win the honor.
