HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Landmark Conference named junior Emma Dahmus (Hummelstown, Pa./Lower Dauphin) the field hockey offensive player of the week for her outstanding effort over the weekend, the league announced Monday. The midfielder scored her first collegiate hat trick against Landmark rival Drew University (Oct. 20) to help lead the Eagles to the 5-4 double-overtime victory.
The win handed Drew its first conference loss and helped keep the
Eagles post-season dreams alive.
“This year we have been utilizing Emma on the forward and midfield line to help generate attack and it’s really made her a stronger presence on the offensive end,” said Juniata Head Coach Caroline Gillich. “She has been more of a utility player than a position player. Not only setting up offensive opportunities but being able to finish them as well.”
Dahmus currently leads the team in goals (8) and assists (4). She has 20 points on the season and has scored two or more goals in two games this year.
Juniata competes against Dickinson College next on Wednesday, Oct. 24 on the comfort of their own turf. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. The field hockey team has been competing against Dickinson since 1973. Last season, the Eagles fell 3-2 in penalty strokes to the Red Devils. Despite holding a 13-17-2 all-time record against Dickinson, the Eagles have owned the recent series, outscoring the Red Devils 9-6 in the past four years.
