At Juniata: Second Season

Matt Baer enters his second season as the head men's and women's golf coach (2018-19).

For the men, it marks the first time in over 20 years that Juniata will field a team. Men’s golf was previously a varsity program at Juniata from 1947-1994.

"I think having a golf program here in Huntingdon is pretty exciting,” said Baer. “I think it will benefit the college. I can already sense the excitement in the community about the program.”

Baer played golf in high school. Baseball was the sport he decided to pursue and after his career was complete, he took up golf again. Baer has competed in local qualifiers and tournaments around the state and has won four American Legion Country Club Championships, the Huntingdon County Open in 2014 and was a Central County Individual champion in 2016.

Baer played baseball at West Chester University. While there, his teams won the 2009 and 2012 PSAC and Mid-Atlantic Region Championships and the 2012 Division II National Championship.

Baer currently resides in Huntingdon and teaches Social Studies at Huntingdon Area High School.
