Jack Iosue earns Juniata men’s only first place finish at Goucher Invitational
TOWSON, MD. – Juniata College men's track & field competed in the Goucher Invitational in Towson, Md. on Saturday. The men placed fifth out of 16 scored teams with 73.50 team points.
In the field events for the men, Juniata was led by a first place javelin throw of 192' 8" from Jack Iosue (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central).
Senior Nicholas Bauer (Glen Ridge, N.J./Glen Ridge) placed second in the long jump with a 21' 2¾" leap, while Justin Herr (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) took sixth in that event with a jump of 19' 7½". Herr also placed third and Bauer fourth in the triple jump with respective marks of 41' 2¼" and 41' 1".
Justin Clapper (Buffalo Mills, Pa./Bedford) earned fourth in the discus with a toss of 131' 2", followed by a fifth place finish in the hammer throw with a mark of 133' 9". His hammer throw is good enough to place fourth on Juniata's all-time leaderboard.
On the track, senior Aaron McCoy (Muncy, Pa./Hughsville) finished fifth in the 100m dash with a 11.14 second time, while also grabbing 11th in the 200m race finishing in 23.27.
Tyler Mandley (Altoona, Pa./Altoona Area) crossed the finish line third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 57.27 and finished eighth in the 110m hurdles with a 16.43 second time, while Vinny Smith (Butler, Pa./Mars) took fourth in the 110m hurdles with a time of 15.88 seconds.
Juniata next travels to Messiah College for the Messiah Invitational Heptathlon that will run from April 12-14.
