GREENSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team shut out Pitt.-Greensburg, 1-0, Tuesday afternoon at Ridilla Stadium to improve to 8-3 on the season.
The Eagles put one on the board early on for the team's first and only goal of the game. In the twelfth minute of play, Anna Kauffman (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) found Aubrie Christensen (Suwanee, Ga./Manheim Township) who was able to take a shot from the upper left hand corner of the box, finding the back of the net. Christensen currently leads the team with four goals and four assists.
The Eagles held a 16-2 edge in shots and tied with the Bobcats 3-3 in corner kicks. Shannon Kriz (Breinigsville, Pa. / Parkland) took the first half while Kerry Leonard (Cockeysville, Md./ Maryvale Prep) finished the game in goal to complete the shutout.
After the match, head coach Scott McKenzie discussed the win. "In a game that struggled to find a consistent rhythm, we are very happy to get a road victory. We played well defensively and were dangerous when we went forward."
The Eagles return to conference action Saturday, October 7 at Drew at 1:00pm.
