Eagles Sweep Falcons With Efficient Hitting from the Middles

ASHLAND, Va.-The Juniata women's volleyball team defeated Messiah, 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-16), Friday evening in Alumni Gym on the campus of Randolph-Macon. 

Marybeth Weihbrecht (Mechanicsburg, Pa. / Cumberland Valley) had 10 kills while hitting .667 with a solo block and a block assist. Dejia Danhi (Ashburn, Va. / Stone Bridge) tallied 10 kills as well while hitting .600 with two block assists. Moira Folan (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Oakland Catholic HS) had a kill, 19 assists, a dig and a block assist while Alyssa Tavera (Whittier, Calif. / La Salle H.S.) had two kills, 18 assists, an ace and 11 digs. 

Morgan Edwards (Lancaster, Pa. / Penn Manor) amassed seven kills and a block assist while Victoria Taylor (Middletown, Del. / Delaware Military Academy) totaled six kills, an assist, four digs and a block assist. Marie Gonsar (New Castle, Pa. / Shenango H.S.) had seven kills, two aces and six digs. Sophia Gingrich (Minneapolis, Minn. / Minneapolis Southwest H.S.) had 13 digs and an assist while Makenna Hallager (Glenolden, Pa. / Merion Mercy Academy) chipped in with two digs an assist and an ace. Katie Byrne (Annapolis, Md. / Broadneck) had 17 digs, two assists and an ace. She now sits nine digs short of 2,000. 

Juniata will face host Randolph-Macon tomorrow at 11:00 am. They face Washington and Lee at 2:00.
