HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The postseason honors keep pouring in for sophomore Joe Bortak (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford) of Juniata College men’s volleyball. The two-time All-America middle blocker was named an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star Friday afternoon. He was the only Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) student-athlete to make the list.
HUNTINGDON, Pa. - Juniata College Athletics reviewed its year in sports and acknowledged the accomplishments of its student-athletes at the 17th Annual Athletic Awards Night. Held Sunday night on campus, the event also recognized the departments “Big Five”, the top five senior student-athletes who have made incredible contributions not only to their respective sports, but the institution as a whole over the course of their four years.
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A slow start hurt No. 8 Juniata College men’s volleyball in its NCAA Quarterfinal match against No. 15 Rivier University Friday night. The Eagles (24-12) fell 3-0 (28-26, 25-20, 25-23) to end their historic season. Rivier improved to 27-11 on the year and will face host Nazareth College Saturday, April 27 at 6 p.m. in the national semifinal.
HUNTINGDON, Pa. - It’s been nearly two weeks since the Juniata College men’s volleyball team swept UC Santa Cruz (3-0) to win the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) Tournament and the Eagles have not let up. Winning the program’s first CVC championship also secured its first NCAA Tournament berth. As one of the final eight teams selected, No. 8 Juniata travels to Rochester, N.Y. to play in the national quarterfinal against No. 15 Rivier University on Friday, April 26 at 8 p.m.

The Eagles (24-11) hit over .400 as a team and earned nine team blocks in the sweep. Freshman Matt Elias (Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) was named the tournament most valuable player.

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - No. 8 Juniata College men’s volleyball saw three Eagles named to the Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) All-East Division Team, the organization released Friday. Junior Ross Madden (Richmond, Va./Deep Run) and sophomores Joe Bortak (Jeannette, Pa./Penn Trafford) and Paul Kuhn (York, Pa./Central York) made the cut. This is Juniata’s second year in the league and second year they have had over two student-athletes recognized.
PRINCETON, N.J. â Facing its fourth NCAA Division I opponent this year, the No. 8 Juniata menâs volleyball team fought hard, but fell 3-1 on the road Tuesday night in Dillon Gym. Juniata (22-11) has taken games from each of the Division I opponents its faced this season except one. Princeton improved to 12-8 with the win.
LANGHORNE, Pa. - The No. 8 Juniata College men's volleyball team swept competition in the final day of its Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) East Divisional weekend to improve to 22-10 overall and secure the No. 1 East seed at the CVC Championships. Juniata defeated Eastern Mennonite (EMU) 3-1 (25-22, 16-25, 25-16, 25-23) before sweeping host Cairn in straight sets, 3-0 (25-22, 25-17, 25-20).
LANGHORNE, Pa. â No. 8 Juniata College menâs volleyball held off No. 9 Stevenson University, winning 3-1 (25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 32-30) Friday evening to open its last Continental Volleyball Conference (CVC) East Divisional weekend of the 2013 season. Juniata (20-10, 4-2 CVC) only has three more matches remaining before the CVC Championships. Stevenson dropped to 19-10, 4-2 in CVC play with the loss.
