ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Juniata baseball team closed out its Landmark Conference weekend series with a 12–2 loss to Elizabethtown on Sunday afternoon.
Elizabethtown used a trio of multi-run innings and a five-run eighth to pull away from Juniata.
The Eagles' lone run-scoring inning came in the top of the seventh, when Jackson Cunnane drove a two-run double to center field, scoring Joey Woodrow and Jace Irvin to cut the Blue Jays lead to 6–2. Cunnane led the offense with two hits and both RBIs, while Woodrow added a pair of singles in the loss.
Derek Gehr took the loss on the mound, allowing four runs (three earned) over 4.1 innings. Robbie Pliszka, Connor Krahulec, and Ben Ryan worked in relief, with Krahulec surrendering six earned runs during a tough eighth inning.
The Eagles return to the field Tuesday for a conference matchup with Lycoming with first pitch at 3:30.
