Eagles Fall to Fighting Scots
DAVENPORT, Fl.- The Juniata baseball team lost to Gordon College, 9-5, on Wednesday afternoon.
Jace Irvin's homer to left in the top of the first put the Eagles up 1-0.
Ricky Scott drove in Jackson Cunnane with an infield single in the second.
Cunnane lined an RBI single to left to score Irvin in the third, and later Matthew Quigley plated Scott with a sacrifice fly to right as Juniata led 4-0 through four innings.
The Fighting Scots came alive offensively, scoring twice in the fifth, sixth, seventh, and three more in the eighth.
Irvin was 2-3 with a home run, an RBI, a walk, and two runs scored. Cunnane and Scott were both 2-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Cunnane had a double while Scott added a triple.
Tim Coleman pitched three innings, allowing two hits with three strikeouts. Aedan Hrivnak went 2.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits with five strikeouts. Krieg Pierce went 2/3rd's of an inning and allowed a hit with a strikeout, while Max Dupes went 1.1 innings, allowing four runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Robbie Pliszka went 2/3rds of an inning and allowed one run on three hits with a strikeout.
Juniata is off tomorrow and will begin conference play against Moravian on Friday. First pitch is at 3:30.
