Juniata field hockey picked as runner-up in Landmark preseason poll
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata College field hockey team, who has been favored to win the Landmark Conference title for the past two seasons on the league’s preseason poll, has taken a backseat in the 2012 preseason poll behind No. 1 Catholic University of America, released Thursday.

The Eagles, who collected 41 points and one first place vote, capped their 2011 season with an 11-9 overall record to finish second in the Landmark and advanced to the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Region Championship Semifinals.
However, it was Catholic that was the clear favorite with 60 points and six first place votes. Drew University came in at No. 3 with 33 points, while the University of Scranton chalked-up 29 points for fourth.
Rounding out the poll is fifth place Susquehanna (25 points), No. 6 Moravian (16 points) and Goucher College at seventh with 13 points.
Juniata begins competition on August 31, against Manhattanville at Stevens Institute of Technology's tournament.
