News mentions
BRIDGEWATER, VA.- The day after winning a crucial Landmark Conference game against Scranton, the Juniata field hockey team traveled to Virginia to play Bridgewater College. The Eagles played to a second overtime and were able to come out with a win 2-1.
HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The last four times that the Juniata and Scranton and field hockey teams have played each other, each contest has gone into overtime. Saturday’s game became the fifth one and it was the Eagles who overcame a 2-0 deficit to win in two extra periods 3-2.
MADISON, N.J.- Brittani’s Lafollette’s (Baltimore, Md./Sparrows Point) goal nearly nine and a half minutes into the second half was all Juniata field hockey needed as the Eagles defeated Drew 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. The win lifts the Eagles’ overall record to 4-7 and gives them their first Landmark Conference win of the season. The Rangers drop to 2-8 overall and 0-2 in the conference.
KEUKA, N.Y.- The Juniata field hockey team traveled to New York for a weeknight match with Keuka. The Eagles scored a season-high five goals on their way to a 5-0 win over the Wolves.
YORK, Pa.- For the third time so far this season, the Juniata field hockey team played an extra period. Unlike the prior two games, the Eagles’ contest with York went to a shootout. Juniata came out on top as Rebecca Waite (Landenburg, Pa./Avon Grove) converted her stroke attempt to give the Eagles their first win of the season, 2-1 over the York.
HUNTINGDON, Pa.- With a large portion of its scoring having departed due to graduation, one would expect a drop off for the Juniata field hockey team in 2016. Top scorer and Landmark Offensive Player of the Year Sarah Bilheimer along with Alli Groft and Melissa Rutherford have all moved on. What will this year’s team look like?
