HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team won in thrilling fashion in double overtime, 3-2, Saturday afternoon at Knox Stadium on Senior Day.
Sydney Witter had a goal and an assist, while Caitlin Steffie and Mallory Prince each had a goal. Tess Ledeboer added two assists.
Wilkes scored late in the first quarter on a penalty stroke.
Early in the second, Ledeboer played a ball in that bounced off a Colonel player and came to Prince. She took a touch before firing past the Wilkes keeper to even things at 1-1.
Juniata held a 7-2 advantage in shots at the half.
The Colonels converted another penalty stroke Early in the third quarter, and the chase was on for Juniata in the fourth for an equalizer.
Inside the final four minutes of the game, Witter poked the ball to Steffie at the back post to send the game to overtime.
In the second overtime, Witter beat a Colonel to a pass from Ledeboer in the shooting circle near the penalty spot and fired the ball past the keeper to give the Eagles their third conference win of the season.
Juniata will travel to take on Lycoming on Tuesday at 7:00.
