Huntingdon, Pa - Juniata field hockey secured its first win of the 2025 season with a 2–0 shutout over Eastern Mennonite on Tuesday evening at Knox Stadium. The Eagles struck early and controlled play throughout, outshooting the Royals by a decisive 15–1 margin.
Juniata wasted little time getting on the board as Mallory Prince opened the scoring in the ninth minute with an unassisted strike.
The Eagles doubled their advantage in the second quarter when Caitlin Steffie capitalized on a scoring chance at the 18:04 mark, giving Juniata a 2–0 cushion heading into halftime.
The Eagles' back line and midfield kept Eastern Mennonite in check, limiting the Royals to just one shot attempt in the entire contest. Juniata created steady pressure, generating seven penalty corners and keeping the flow of the game tilted in its favor.
Goalkeeper Kara Stringfellow turned aside the only shot she faced to record her first shutout of the season. In total, seven different Eagles registered shots, led by Prince, Steffie, and Kaylyn Nierzwicki, who tallied two each on target.
Juniata continues its homestand on Thursday, Sept. 18, when it hosts Hood at Knox Stadium at 7:00 PM.
