HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team opened conference play with a tough 3-1 loss against Moravian University, Saturday afternoon at Knox Stadium.
Jane Corbin scored the lone Eagle goal while Mallory Prince provided the assist. Kara Stringfellow made 11 saves in goal, while Sophia Ganley and Madison Degilio made defensive saves.
The Greyhounds broke through two minutes into the game on a breakaway.
The teams were even heading into the half, with neither team managing a shot in the second quarter.
Two minutes into the third, Moravian struck again, as their forward got the ball at the top of the striking circle and smashed it through traffic into the back of the Eagle cage.
Juniata drew a penalty corner in the final second of the quarter and capitalized. Prince tapped a loose ball to Corbin near the back post who nudged it over the line to bring Juniata within one.

Moravian controlled the final quarter and, in the 55th minute, scored once more to ice the game.
JC will travel to take on Lebanon Valley on Wednesday at 7:00.
