HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata field hockey team dropped a 2-0 decision to visiting Goucher College, Saturday afternoon at Knox Stadium.
Kara Stringfellow made four saves in the game, while Jane Corbin and Sophia Ganley each had a defensive save.
The Gophers struck in the 10th minute, as their forward blasted a shot from the right side of the shooting circle that deflected off the post and in.
Midway through the second quarter, Corbin played a long pass through the Gopher defense to Kaylyn Nierzwicki. She stopped the ball near the end line to the left of the goal and pushed the ball back to the middle. The pass was narrowly behind Caitlin Steffie as the Gophers dodged the Eagle threat.
Juniata trailed 1-0 at the half.
The Eagles pushed on, looking for an equalizer, but the Gophers added an insurance goal with 11 minutes to go in the game to ice it.
Juniata will travel to take on Susquehanna, Wednesday at 7:00.
