Eagles Do Battle With Cardinals In Maryland
Hagerstown, Md. – Men's Golf took the B team down to Hagerstown today to compete in the Cardinal Classic at Black Rock Golf Club, facing off against 12 other strong programs in a competitive field. The Eagles posted a team score of 305, earning a seventh-place finish on the day as several players climbed the leaderboard with steady back-nine performances. Previously, in 2024 the Eagles shot the same score with their A team, demonstrating their improvement.
Leading the way was Kole Washleski, who turned in a composed round of 75 to finish T31. Washleski started hot, carding an even-par 36 on the front nine, highlighted by clean ball-striking and steady pars. Despite a few challenges on the back, he managed a 39 to keep the Eagles in contention, showcasing poise across a demanding layout. Ian Nagel followed closely with a 76, good for T21. Nagel's round was a tale of two nines, opening with a 41 before bouncing back with a strong 35 on the back side. His finish featured several clutch birdies during the weekend and consistent putting that lifted him up the leaderboard in the closing stretch. Ethan Brown contributed a 78 to finish T26, highlighted by a momentum-shifting hole-out from 45 yards for birdie, which sparked a late surge. Brown posted a 40 on the front and 38 on the back, showing grit as he navigated the tough Black Rock layout to secure another top-30 finish in his senior campaign. Larry Singer added an 80, finishing T43. Singer was steady early, carding a 37 on the front nine before battling through a challenging back side. His early birdie and consistent short game helped stabilize the team's score. Rounding out the B team, Elliot Lingle turned in a solid 76 to place T37. Lingle's 37 front nine set the tone, and his composed 39 finish on the back included several key pars that helped secure the team's top-10 finish. Shawn Gamble added a number of pars enroute to a 66th-place finish in a stacked field. Gamble hit his approach shot on 18 from with water up to his shins.
The Eagles turn around and play at Sinking Valley on Sunday and Monday as both their A and B teams plan to compete.
