Bradford Tops Men's Lacrosse in Overtime
Bradford, Pa.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team lost a heartbreaker on the road as they lost in overtime, 10-9, at The University of Pittsburgh-Bradford, Saturday afternoon.
Liam Walsh scored four goals and added a ground ball, while Zane Kromer found the back of the Panther net twice. Jahmir Barber and Vann Rogers each scored once, while Brayden Yeager tallied four assists. Chris Queen had three caused turnovers, while Landon Heddens totaled two caused turnovers and five ground balls. Griffin Umstead made 18 saves in goal.
The hosts scored the first four goals of the game before Yeager found Walsh to end the Panther streak and put the Eagles on the board.
The second quarter saw the teams trade goals, with the Eagles scoring the final two of the half through Rodgers and Max Young finding Walsh to bring JC within one heading into the half.
In the third, goals from Walsh and Yeager gave JC a one-goal advantage heading into the final quarter.
The Panthers clawed their way back into the lead with nine minutes to go, and Yeager found Kromer to tie things at 8-8. The Panthers answered two minutes later, and Juniata hunted for an equalizer to force overtime.
Barber, attacking from the left wing, weaved past several defenders and fired the ball into the top corner to force the game into overtime.
In a physical overtime, the Panthers found a winner in the final 30 seconds, ending the game.
Juniata will travel to take on Bethany on Wednesday at 7:00.
