BALTIMORE, Md. - Wyatt Page (King of Prussia, Pa. / Shipley) found Bass Diakhoumpa (Dakar, Senegal / Mercersburg Academy) for the game-winning goal in the 99th minute as the Juniata men's soccer team won in overtime at Goucher, 1-0, Saturday afternoon at Beldon Field.
In the 15th minute, Page got the first shot of the game for the Eagles, but it was high. Two minutes later, Dain Shirmer (Eliottsburg, Pa. / West Perry) fired a shot of his own, but it was also high.
The teams remained deadlocked at halftime, with an even three shots taken by each team in the opening half.
In the 75th minute, Jarrod Gibson (Abington, Pa. / Abington) got a shot on frame that was denied by the Gopher keeper. Eight minutes later Diakhoumpa attempted a header that the Goucher keeper again was equal to.
The second half was also even in shot attempts as both teams attempted two shots.
Goucher attempted a shot that went wide in the 98th minute. Page found Diakhoumpa for the game-winner in the final 14 seconds of the first overtime to give Juniata their first conference win since 2016.
Andrew Yeich (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area) made two saves to get the shutout.
