Juniata Men's Soccer in Costa Rica Days 6, 7 and 8
By Nate Weick
In the final three days of our pre-season excursion in Costa Rica, we spent our time at the all-inclusive Occidental hotel in Tamarindo, Costa Rica. The resort is located right on the beach and is just five minutes downtown. We've enjoyed everything from 7:00 a.m. beach workouts to nights out, which turned into early mornings in Tamarindo. Around the hotel we've enjoyed games of pool, ping pong, and beach volleyball, as well as live music and cultural dance performances. We also shared several team meals in the restaurant at the hotel. It's been awesome to unwind together and build our team chemistry knowing how much it will show on the field. Teams with great chemistry have the incredible ability to overachieve. Teams with talent but no chemistry have the tendency to underachieve. Now, we are a team with great chemistry.
Tomorrow we will make the journey back to Huntingdon and begin to shift our focus toward the preparation of a highly anticipated soccer season at Juniata College, commencing on Friday morning. Our first match will be later this month on August 30 at Pitt-Greensburg University, and our first home contest will be against Marymount University on September 3 at 4:00 p.m.
