Men’s Swimming Adds Finals Swims to Sit Sixth After Day Two at Cougar Splash
Dallas, Pa. – The Juniata men's swimming & diving team turned in another full slate of swims on Saturday at the Cougar Splash, using relay depth and strong individual efforts to sit sixth with 74 team points through 26 events. The morning session opened with the 200 free relay, where Wyatt Cole, Yui Inagi, Max Baronner, and Ben Schultz combined for ninth in 1:32.45, followed by the B relay of Matt Rota, Isaac March, Will Dovey, and Christian Rota in 1:38.86. In the 400 IM, Cody Hartle led the way in 10th at 4:41.20, with Will Dovey adding a 5:03.83. The 100 butterfly saw a deep Juniata group as Matt Rota (56.30), Wyatt Cole (56.57), Yui Inagi (56.90), Kevin Bowser (1:02.37), and Matt Tiernan all raced, before Marshall Radonovich highlighted the 200 free with a ninth-place 1:51.42 and Jim Oster added a 2:08.74, with Christian Rota (2:01.22 exhibition) also contributing. The men closed the morning with the 400 medley relay, where the A lineup of Marshall Radonovich, Max Baronner, Matt Rota, and Yui Inagi took ninth in 3:47.50, setting a new school record in the event, and the B quartet of Logan Stewart, Ben Schultz, Cody Hartle, and Matt Tiernan stopped the clock at 4:03.93.
The evening brought more racing and another pair of scoring relays. In the 200 butterfly, Cody Hartle placed 10th in 2:10.37 and Christian Rota added a 2:23.75. Backstroke finals saw Logan Stewart grab 10th in the 100 back at 58.47 and Matt Tiernan turn in a 1:06.52, while Marshall Radonovich (56.44) also swam the event earlier in the session. The 100 breaststroke group was busy as Max Baronner finished 11th in 1:03.72 with Ben Schultz (1:07.37) and Isaac March (1:14.35) joining him in the event, and Yui Inagi, Matt Rota, Jim Oster, Will Dovey, and Kevin Bowser all adding additional swims. The men wrapped up the night with the 800 free relay, where the A relay of Wyatt Cole, Cody Hartle, Marshall Radonovich, and Yui Inagi took seventh in 7:42.11, and the B foursome of Jim Oster, Kevin Bowser, Will Dovey, and Christian Rota finished 11th in 8:20.80, cementing Juniata in sixth place heading into Sunday's finale.
