Eagles Come Up Just Short in 4–3 Battle with Susquehanna
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata men's tennis team pushed Landmark Conference rival Susquehanna to the limit on Tuesday afternoon at Raffensperger Tennis Courts, but ultimately came up just short in a narrow 4–3 defeat.
Despite strong efforts in singles play, Juniata was edged after dropping two of three doubles matches, allowing the River Hawks to secure the critical opening point.
The Eagles' lone doubles win came at the third flight, where Arthur DeYoung and Gustaf Geremia dominated Susquehanna's Thomas Hallahan and Nathan Bassett, 6–1.
In singles, Adrian Di Benedetto continued his standout season with a commanding 6–0, 6–1 win over Hallahan at the No. 2 spot. DeYoung added his second victory of the day with a hard-fought 6–4, 2–6, 6–3 triumph over Tyler Hester at No. 4 singles, while Geremia rolled past Austin Imhoof 6–4, 6–2 at No. 6 to round out the wins for Juniata.
At the top of the lineup, Jules Guyot pushed Susquehanna's Logan Rauschenberger to a second-set tiebreak but ultimately fell 6–3, 7–6 (3). Dillon Murphy and Come Burghgraeve also battled but came up short at No. 3 and No. 5 singles, respectively.
The Eagles return to action on Wednesday at Lycoming.
