LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – Juniata College cross country had a record day at the Lock Haven Cross Country Invitational Saturday. Senior Katrina Woods (Shirleysburg, Pa./Mount Union) broke the women's Landmark Conference and program record in the 6K and senior Nate Alter (Pittsburg, Pa./Taylor Allderdice) broke the men's 8K program record running the fastest Landmark time this season at the distance.
Woods finished third overall out of 231 runners. Her time of 21:44.20 beat the 2009 Landmark record set at the NCAA Mid-East Regional by 8.9 seconds and crushed her previous best by over a minute. Alter crossed 17th overall out of 244 runners in a career-best time of 25:55.0.
All five of the men who finished in the top third of the pack set personal best marks at the race. The women saw three finish in the top half and each ran career times as well.
As a team, the men placed seventh and the women 12th, respectively. Juniata continues its season on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Father Bede Invitational hosted by Saint Francis University.
