Softball to Hold Pitching, Hitting Clinics This Winter
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College softball is holding four pitching clinics and one hitting session this winter. Both clinics are for grades 4-12 and offer a chance to learn from Eagle pitchers and coaches during their offseason. This is the second year of the pitching clinics and the first for the hitting session.

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College softball is holding four pitching clinics and one hitting session this winter. Both clinics are for grades 4-12 and offer a chance to learn from Eagle pitchers and coaches during their offseason. This is the second year of the pitching clinics and the first for the hitting session.
"We are excited for the addition of the hitting clinic this year," said head softball coach Sam Kszepka. "It was highly requested by last years pitching clinic participants. Not only do we use these clinics as a fundraiser for the program but also to reach out to the community to improve the local softball programs."
The pitching clinics take place November 24, December 8, January 19, and February 2. They are broken into beginner and advanced sessions. Beginners will learn the basic mechanics of windmill pitching including the proper way to grip the ball and drive with the legs during a pitch. Advanced pitchers will enhance their basic mechanics, learning breaking pitches like the drop, curve, and rise ball. There will also be an emphasis on location, movement and the change up for advanced group.
Each pitching session is $35, but participants can save by signing up for all four sessions for just $125.
The hitting clinic is on Sunday, Jan. 26 and runs from 12-1:30 p.m. for grades 9-12 and 2-3:30 p.m. for grades 4-8. Participants will learn the fundamentals of hitting, bunting and slapping and will receive individualized instruction according to skill level. The cost of the hitting clinic is only $50.
