Juniata Softball Sixth in Landmark Preseason Poll
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College softball finished sixth in the 2014 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, the league announced Tuesday. Only four points separated places 4-6 in the poll. The Eagles received 20 points, just one point behind fifth place University of Scranton.

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College softball finished sixth in the 2014 Landmark Conference Preseason Poll, the league announced Tuesday. Only four points separated places 4-6 in the poll. The Eagles received 20 points, just one point behind fifth place University of Scranton.
""The ranking helps us because there's no pressure on us," said second year head coach Sam Kszepka. "We are able to play our game and not have a target on our backs and hopefully we'll continue to surprise some teams, especially some conference teams we'll be facing this year as we make a run for the conference tournament."
Reigning Landmark champion Susquehanna University was voted first with 54 points and four first place votes. Moravian College was the only other program to receive first place votes. They finished second in the poll with 51 points and three first place votes.

Juniata opens its 2014 season about a week and a half. They head down to Clermont, Fla. to face 10 teams, including nationally ranked Rowan and Ithaca, who is receiving votes.
