Eagles Earn Split On Day One in Florida

Clermont, Fl.- The Juniata softball team opened play in Florida with a split, as they lost to Pitt Greensburg 7-1 before defeating Lasell 15-1 in five innings, Sunday afternoon.
The Panthers scored five runs in the third and tacked on another in the fourth.
In the bottom of the fifth, with Ashley Robuck on first via a walk, Claire Thomas smashed a triple to left center to get the Eagles on the board.
The Panthers added another run in the seventh on a fielder's choice.
Cailee Barnett went 2-3 with a double and a triple.
In game two, the Eagles dominated as they scored a run in the first, three in the second before exploding for nine runs in the third.
The Eagles batted around, with four different Eagles driving in runs including Brooklynn Walker and Robuck driving in runs twice in the inning.
Lasell scored once in the fourth for the final run of the game.
Cheyenne Silvis got the win for the Eagles, going two innings with two strike outs. Gracie Ruch entered in relief, tossing two innings and allowing a run with two strikeouts. Seven different Eagles registered a hit in the game, with eight crossing the plate.
Juniata returns to action tomorrow against Skidmore at 9:00 and Marywood at 11:15.
