HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata softball team earned a split as they beat Penn State Altoona 5-0 before falling 4-2 in game two, Thursday afternoon at West End Field.
Cheyenne Silvis opened up her career at home by throwing a complete game, scattering seven hits with five strikeouts.
Lexi Roush got the Eagles on the board in the second with an RBI double to left, which scored Grace Hensch. Later in the inning, Dani Berlin smacked a two-run single to right to score Roush and Amanda Townley.
Berlin plated Brooklynn Walker in the fourth, and Ashley Robuck's sacrifice fly scored Berlin to complete the scoring in game one.
In game two, Hensch drove in the first run of the game in the first, and Eva Johnson drove in Roush in the second to put JC up 2-0.
Penn State scored two runs in the third and two more in the sixth to take the lead.
The Eagles couldn't mount a comeback, going hitless the rest of the game.
Juniata will open conference play at the University of Scranton on Saturday, beginning at 1:00.
