Berg Splashes Five Three's Against Chatham
HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's basketball team lost to visiting Chatham University, 80-63, Tuesday evening inside Memorial Gymnasium.
Olivia Berg led Juniata with a career-high 22 points to go with three rebounds and two steals. Laney Gerdich contributed 10 points, four rebounds, and an assist, while Leah Skweres added 11 points, four rebounds, two steals, and an assist off the bench. Makenna Hartman had seven points and a rebound.
Emily McCann and Skewers each had four points in the quarter as the Eagles tried to keep pace with the Cougars' blistering shooting. The Cougars shot 70% from the floor in the first quarter.
Berg started cooking from the three-point line in the second quarter, draining three in the first five minutes. Juniata got as close as one before the Cougars got a few late buckets. The Eagles went into the locker room down eight at the half.
The teams were even in the third quarter, each scoring 15 points, with Hartman scoring six of her seven in the frame to lead the Eagles.
The Cougars pushed their lead to double digits in the first moments of the fourth and kept the Eagles at bay the rest of the game.
Juniata had a 31-28 advantage on the boards and a 19-13 edge in points off the bench.
