Bri Bodtorf posts 18 points, five assists in Juniata’s 73–67 Loss to Catholic
Huntingdon, Pa. – Bri Bodtorf scored a game-high 18 points and Juniata women's basketball trimmed a double-digit halftime deficit, but the Eagles fell to Catholic, 73–67, on Wednesday night at Memorial Gymnasium.
Juniata (4-16, 2-11) trailed 38–27 at the break after Catholic won the first half 16–12 in the opening quarter and 22–15 in the second. The Eagles responded with their best stretch after halftime, taking the third quarter 19–17 and the fourth 21–18, but couldn't fully erase the early gap.
Bodtorf was efficient on the offensive end, finishing 8-for-12 from the floor while adding five assists, four rebounds, two steals, and a block in 34 minutes. Laney Gerdich added 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting and pulled down six rebounds, and Olivia Berg knocked down three triples to finish with nine points.
Off the bench, Leah Skweres scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds, while Michaela Owens hit a three and went 2-for-2 at the line for five points in eight minutes. Gemma Navickas and Makenna Hartman each added four, and Cate Clarke contributed three assists in eight minutes.
Juniata shot 44.1 percent (26-for-59) from the field and 35.3 percent (6-for-17) from three, while Catholic finished at 43.3 percent (29-for-67) and 30.0 percent (6-for-20) from deep. The Cardinals held a narrow 42–39 rebounding edge and forced 21 Juniata turnovers.
Catholic was paced by 13 points each from Amelia Kennedy and Carly Catania, with Juliana O'Dowd adding 11 off the bench.
Juniata continues conference play on Saturday as they host Wilkes at 4pm. .
