McCann Leads Juniata with 10 Points in Road Loss at Lycoming
Williamsport, Pa. – Juniata women;s basketball drops Landmark Conference road game at Lycoming, 64-52 inside Lamade Gymnasium.
Juniata (5-19, 3-14 Landmark) held a 18-17 lead after the opening quarter, but Lycoming (8-16, 4-13 Landmark) used a 19-7 second quarter to take control and never trailed the rest of the way.
The Eagles shot just 25.0 percent from the floor and 20.0 percent from three-point range, while Lycoming connected at 42.4 percent overall and knocked down eight three-pointers.
Emily McCann led Juniata with 10 points, adding five rebounds and two steals. Laney Gerdich finished with nine points on a perfect 5-for-5 performance at the free throw line, while Bri Bodtorf contributed seven points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.
Emma Coolidge controlled the glass with a team-high 11 rebounds to go along with five points and three steals. Off the bench, Cate Clarke provided a spark with nine points on 3-of-4 shooting and went 3-for-4 from the charity stripe.
After the tight first quarter, Lycoming outscored Juniata 19-7 in the second to take a 36-25 halftime advantage. The Eagles trimmed the deficit to 11 entering the fourth following a 16-point third quarter, but could not get closer as both teams scored 11 in the final frame.
Juniata finished with a 43-42 edge on the boards and forced 16 Lycoming turnovers, but struggled to turn those opportunities into consistent offense.
The Eagles will look to close out the regular season with their Senior Day game against Moravian this Saturday at 4PM.
