Juniata Drops Home Contest to Moravian, 60-46
Huntingdon, Pa. – Moravian University used a decisive third quarter to pull away from Juniata College, defeating the Eagles 60-46 on Saturday afternoon in Memorial Gymnasium.
Moravian outscored Juniata 22-9 in the third quarter, turning a narrow 23-18 halftime lead into a 45-27 advantage heading into the final 10 minutes.
Juniata controlled the glass with a 50-42 rebounding edge, including 14 offensive rebounds, but struggled offensively, shooting 31.6 percent (18-of-57) from the field and committing 23 turnovers.
Gemma Navickas led the Eagles with 10 points on 4-of-8 shooting, including a three-pointer. Emma Coolidge recorded nine points and a team-high 12 rebounds, while Olivia Berg added eight points and two steals. Laney Gerdich and Emily McCann contributed six and five points, respectively.
Moravian built its lead early, holding Juniata to just six points in the second quarter to take a five-point edge into halftime. After the Greyhounds extended the margin to 18 by the end of the third, the Eagles responded with a 19-point fourth quarter but were unable to cut the deficit to single digits down the stretch.
Juniata ends their regular season 5-20 overall and 3-15 in the conference.
