Auster-Gussman named ECAC South Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College sophomore goalie Lauren Auster-Gussman (Lancaster, Pa./Lancaster Country Day) has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division III South Region Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, for the week ending September 14, 2008.

Auster-Gussman recorded seven saves to lead Juniata to a 2-0 win over Gettysburg College on Saturday, Sept. 13, improving the Eagles' record to 4-0-0. The shutout victory also extended Auster-Gussman's shutout streak to 225 minutes this season.

The over Gettysburg, tied for 10th in the adidas/NSCAA Middle Atlantic Region rankings, was Juniata's first over a regionally ranked opponent.

The Eagles, now 5-0-0 after Tuesday's 3-1 win over Lycoming College, will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they face Penn State-Altoona at 1:00 p.m. in Spring Run Stadium in Altoona.
