Bellagio, Italy – Juniata women's soccer battled hard and eventually fell 2-0 against a very talented Tradate squad in Bellagio, Italy Wednesday night, as part of the team's 10-day trip throughout Italy, Austria and Germany.
Both Tradate goals were scored in the first half of play, the first coming from a well-executed Tradate offensive play that forced the Juniata defense out of position. The final mark of the match developed from a corner that found the foot of a Tradate player after a scramble in front of the net.
"Our players looked fit and demonstrated great tactical awareness, especially for this time of year," said head coach Scott McKenzie.
"The Italian team might have defeated us, but being able to play soccer Europe has given me the experience of a lifetime," relished junior Paula Pryor.
Juniata will continue its travels throughout Italy and make its way to Austria for its second game on Saturday, June 30 against FC St. Veit.
