Leonard Named Landmark Defensive Player of the Week

Huntingdon, Pa. - Junior goalkeeper Kerry Leonard (Cockeysville, Md./Maryvale Prep.) was recognized as Landmark Conference's Defensive Player of the Week after two shutout performances last week.

Against Penn St.-Altoona, Leonard helped complete a 1-0 shutout by tallying eight saves on the Panthers' eight shots on goal to keep them scoreless.

In a double overtime match against Westminster, Leonard tallied six saves, three of which were in overtime play. With three minutes left in the first overtime, Westminster took two shots within twenty seconds of each other. Leonard laid out for both to keep them off the board and sending the game into a second overtime. She saved one more in the 103rd minute, giving the Eagles possession of the ball. Juniata maintained control for the rest of the game, but was not able to score before the clock ran out.

She leads the Landmark Conference with 27 saves this season, while her .844 save percentage is second in the conference.

The Landmark Conference awarded Leonard their Defensive Player of the Week two other times during her freshman year.
