HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team suffered a 3-0 loss to Elizabethtown, Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.
Eleven minutes in, Lydia Lawson of Elizabethtown broke through and put a shot low and to the far post to make it 1-0.
In the 17th minute, Alexis Ulrich (Middlebury, Pa. / Middletown Area HS) crossed the ball to Brooke Rotheram (Harrisburg, Pa. / Central Dauphin East) who volleyed the ball towards net but it was just wide right of the frame.
In the 28th minute, a long ball from the right-wing was slotted home for the Blue Jays, again by Lawson as the Blue Jays extended their lead.
With just over a minute left in the half, Lawson completed the hat trick as Elizabethtown lead 3-0 at halftime.
Juniata's best chance of the second half came in the final stages of the game when an errant pass from the visiting goalie came to Colleen O'Brien (Collegeville, Pa. / Perkiomen Valley) about 25 yards out, but her first-time shot went wide of the mark.
Cati Besch (Bellefonte, Pa. / Bellefonte Area HS) made 10 saves in goal for the Eagles.
Juniata returns to action next Saturday at Goucher. Kickoff is at 4:00.
