BETHLEHEM, Pa.- The Juniata women's soccer team earned a draw to open Landmark Conference play at Moravian University, 1-1, Saturday afternoon at John Makuvek Field.
Gracie French scored her third goal of the season, while McKenna Kelley had the assist. Emma Stiller made five saves in goal.
In the 20th minute, a ball bounced to Kelly near the halfway line. She lofted a ball over everyone towards the Greyhound box. It bounced once right at the 18, French beat the Greyhound defense, including the keeper to the ball, and headed it over the goalie into the net.
The Eagles led 1-0 at the half, with the teams each managing six shots. Juniata held a narrow 4-3 advantage in corners.
In the 74th minute, a Greyhound cross from the left endline found a Moravian player at the back post. She took a touch before volleying the ball into the net.
Juniata couldn't find a winner in the final 16 minutes.
It is the first-ever tie between the two teams, and the first result the Eagles have earned against Moravian since 2012.
The Eagles return to action Tuesday at home against Elizabethtown at 7:00.
