Eagles Dominate Home Opener, Women’s Swimming Rolls Past Lebanon Valley 168–32
Huntingdon, Pa. — The Juniata women's swimming and diving team cruised to a dominant 168–32 victory over Lebanon Valley on Saturday afternoon inside Binder Natatorium, opening its home schedule in style.
The Eagles wasted no time setting the tone, as the quartet of Coltan Swarts, Lena Englerth, Dani Cline, and Megan Mikell claimed first in the 200 medley relay with a time of 2:11.84. The relay victory sparked an afternoon filled with event sweeps and personal bests for Juniata.
Distance proved to be a major strength for the Eagles, with Abby Ortiz (10:23.45), Delany Wetzel (10:26.65), and Maegan Jordan (10:40.85) sweeping the top three spots in the 800 freestyle. Eleanor Smith continued the dominance in mid-distance events, winning both the 200 freestyle (2:23.23) and 400 freestyle (4:55.59).
Juniata's depth showed across every stroke. Swarts earned a second individual win in the 100 backstroke (1:12.73) after previously taking the 200 IM (2:41.07), while Englerth picked up a victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:26.20). In the sprint lanes, Mikell captured the 50 freestyle (28.69), and Lakelynn Godfrey followed with a win in the 100 freestyle (1:05.67). Kasey Williams added a victory in the 100 butterfly (1:15.07) to round out Juniata's individual sweep.
The Eagles closed the meet on a high note, as Godfrey, Smith, Cline, and Mikell powered to a time of 1:58.61 in the 200 freestyle relay to secure Juniata's perfect day in the pool.
