Eagles Crush Colonels and Warriors
Huntingdon, Pa.- Juniata women provided utter domination in the water, splashing their way to a 71-point victory. The Eagles were led by both solo performances, but also by relays in which they scored 387 points, Wilkes scored 316, and Lycoming scored only 290 points.
Megan Mikell led the way with three first-place finishes on the day. She bagged her first gold medal of the day in the 100m breaststroke (1:19.47), her second in the 200m freestyle relay (28.59), and her third in the 200m Medley Relay with a 35.70 second breaststroke. Another strong finish in the 50m breaststroke (36.56) made her the top point getter of the day.
The 200m Medley Relay was dominant, putting up a time of 2:11.63 from Coltan Swarts (33.35), Megan Mikell (35.70), Danielle Cline (33.00), and Lakelynn Godfrey (29.58). Beating the next closest school by 23 seconds.
The Eagles also picked up points in the 100m Fly finals with Eleanor Smith winning the event with a time of 1:14.83. Danielle Cline and Maegan Jordan finished in second and fourth, respectively.
Delany Wetzel added another first-place finish for the Eagles in the 800 freestyle (10:20.99), securing a personal best swim. Wetzel added another personal best in the 50 freestyle (30.99), finishing in fifth place overall in the meet for points.
The Eagles will compete in their last regular-season meet against PSU Altoona and Elizabethtown in Altoona on January 24th.
