Women’s Tennis Starts the Season 3-0 in Doubles Action
OBERLIN, Ohio – Juniata College women’s tennis opened its season today at the Oberlin Invite in Oberlin, Ohio. After a thunderstorm in Huntingdon washed out the Eagles’ match against Penn State Altoona last Wednesday, the women hit the road for a three-day event in Ohio and have started with three doubles wins in day one.

OBERLIN, Ohio – Juniata College women's tennis opened its season today at the Oberlin Invite in Oberlin, Ohio. After a thunderstorm in Huntingdon washed out the Eagles' match against Penn State Altoona last Wednesday, the women hit the road for a three-day event in Ohio and have started with three doubles wins in day one.
Rain and cold temperatures in Oberlin forced the tournament to downsize from 16 courts to four. The Juniata women weren't bothered and handled their matches well, winning all three doubles contests today. Freshman Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan) and sophomore Jacklyn Renninger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) took down Leachko and Harper of Otterbein University 8-6.
The sophomore pair of Mitsuki Koh (Cupertino, Calif./Monta Vista) and Tori Gray (York, Pa./Central York), who finished 6-4 in their last 10 matches of 2012, defeated Betts and Hoffman of Kenyon College 8-6. Rounding out doubles action, the First-Team All-Landmark Conference pair of senior Megan Phillips (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and junior Heather Waring (San Antonio, Texas/John Jay) knocked off Lowe and Mills of Case Western 8-3.
The Eagles continue the Oberlin Invite tomorrow and Sunday.
