TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore Jacklyn Renninger (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) helped the Juniata College women's tennis team to a 5-1 week over spring break and has been chosen as Landmark Conference Player of the Week for her performances, the league announced this afternoon. Renninger went undefeated in singles player, winning all five of her matches at the No. 6 position, and finished the week 5-1 at No. 3 doubles with her partner freshman Rachel Yurchisin (Cleveland, Ohio/Padua Franciscan).
"Jackie played great all spring break and played very well in singles at Catholic," said head coach Jason Cohen. "Similarly to our men's team, our strength is our depth. Las year Jackie did pretty well playing three as a freshman, which is tough to do. This year at six we definitely expect a lot out of her and she came through. She's a tough competitor and that's going to win a lot of matches - just her desire and will to win."
Renninger won all of her singles matches without dropping a set and against Westminster College and Richard Stockton University she only dropped two games in either match. In double play with Yurchisin the pair have only lost twice all year, including the fall season, and are 11-2 overall.
Juniata women's tennis will open the spring home season this Wed., March 19, at 3:30 p.m. against Lycoming College.
