BLOOMSBURG, Pa.- The Juniata women's tennis team faced DII Bloomsburg University on Sunday afternoon, falling 1-6.
The match utilized the NCAA DII scoring format, with Juniata earning their lone point via wins in first doubles and third doubles. Medina Yessenaliyeva and Celia Navarro de Torres won in first doubles 6-4, while Maggie Ackley and Shveta Kalathur swept their third doubles opponents 6-0. Charley Madlock and Marilyn Ogof fell 5-7 in second doubles.
Juniata's singles players were swept on the day. Yessenaliyeva struggled in a 1-6, 1-6 first singles loss, while Navarro de Torres lost 4-6, 4-6 in second singles. Ackley fell 3-6, 3-6 in third singles, and Madlock was defeated 2-6, 1-7 in fourth singles. Ogof lost 0-6, 1-6 in fifth singles, and Kalathur lost 1-6, 0-6 in sixth singles.
Juniata next travels to Landmark Conference opponent Susquehanna on Wednesday at 4:00 pm.
