HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's tennis team suffered a 4-3 defeat against visiting Drew on Saturday, despite strong performances in doubles play and key wins in singles, the Eagles fall short in a competitive matchup.
The Eagles struck first by winning two of three doubles matches. At No. 1 doubles, Medina Yessenaliyeva and Celia Navarro de Torres edged their opponents in a 7–6 victory. Nina Meadows and Katie Wagoner followed with a 6–3 win at No. 3 doubles to give Juniata the early lead.
In singles, Yessenaliyeva continued her standout day with a dominant 6–3, 6–3 victory at the top spot. Charley Madlock earned the win at No. 5 singles, 6–3, 6–2, to give Juniata its third point of the match.
Despite the Eagles' strong start, Drew rallied with wins at positions two through four in singles, ultimately securing the win.
Juniata will return to Landmark Conference play on Friday as they host Moravian University at 2:00 PM.
