Dominant Sweep: Juniata Women’s Tennis Blanks Susquehanna, 7–0
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – The Juniata women's tennis team delivered a statement win on Tuesday at Raffensperger Tennis Courts, shutting out Landmark Conference foe Susquehanna, 7–0, behind a clean sweep of both doubles and singles play.
The Eagles struck first in doubles, grabbing two of three matches to secure the opening point. At the top of the lineup, Medina Yessenaliyeva and Celia Navarro De Torres breezed to a 6–0 victory, while the duo of Nina Meadows and Katie Wagoner picked up a 6–4 win at the third spot.
Juniata then dominated singles action, winning all six matchups in straight sets. Yessenaliyeva was lights out at No. 1, rolling past Alexa Wanamaker 6–2, 6–0. Navarro De Torres followed suit with a 6–1, 6–0 win at No. 2.
Sydney Madlock and Nina Meadows handled business at No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Charley Madlock turned in a stellar performance at No. 5 with a 6–4, 6–0 victory. At No. 6, Shveta Kalathur closed out the day with an 8–3 pro set win over Abigail Freeman.
The sweep marks an important conference win for the Eagles, who play next at Lycoming on Wednesday.
