Yessenaliyeva Leads Eagles Past Penn College in Home Opener
Huntingdon, Pa. – Juniata women's tennis delivered a dominant performance in its home opener on Saturday, earning a 6-1 victory over Penn College to pick up its first win of the 2025–26 season.
The Eagles controlled the match from the start, winning five of six singles matches and two of three doubles contests. Medina Yessenaliyeva set the tone at No. 1 singles with a 6-0 victory over Lauren Peck, while Nina Meadows followed with a hard-fought 11-9 win at the No. 2 spot. Katie Wagoner cruised to a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles, and Laura Rojas blanked her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 singles.
Juniata also secured the doubles point with two decisive victories. Yessenaliyeva and Meadows teamed up at No. 1 doubles to earn a 6-0 win.
With the win, Juniata improves to 1-1 on the season, bouncing back from its season opener with a convincing effort on home courts. The Eagles will look to carry that momentum forward as they continue their fall schedule against Penn. State Altoona on October 14th.
