French Leads Juniata Women at Competitive Indoor Meet
Selinsgrove, Pa - The Juniata Eagles women's track and field team turned in a full slate of performances across sprints, relays, jumps, and distance events, highlighted by multiple finals appearances and a podium finish in the sprint events at the Susquehanna River Hawk Invite.
On the track, Gracie French delivered one of the Eagles' top performances of the day, finishing third in the 60-meter dash final with a time of 8.09 seconds after qualifying automatically out of the first round. French added a runner-up finish in the 200 meters, clocking 27.35, and placed eighth in the long jump with a top mark of 4.64 meters, capping a strong multi-event meet.
In the short sprints, Zoey Zavorotny advanced to the 60-meter dash final and finished eighth overall (8.45), while also placing 15th in the 200 meters with a time of 29.26.
Juniata's 4x400-meter relay of Chloe Reilley, Paige Clemmer, Cecelia Williams, and Abby Rivera Concepcion crossed the line in 5:29.94, placing seventh in a competitive field.
In the middle distances, Chloe Reilley led the Eagles in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:52.63, while Cecelia Williams followed at 3:02.98. Paige Clemmer and Abby Rivera Concepcion rounded out the event for Juniata, gaining valuable race experience.
The field events produced multiple top-10 finishes. Haley Mummah placed seventh in the high jump, clearing 1.43 meters, and added a ninth-place finish in the long jump at 4.52 meters. In the pole vault, freshman Sienna Seufert cleared 2.72 meters, earning a fourth-place finish, while Josie Kelly finished fifth at 2.57 meters.
In the throws, Chloe Sauer led Juniata in both disciplines, finishing 18th in the shot put (9.78m) and 17th in the weight throw (11.75m). Justice Sheaffer and Maycee Fox also competed in the weight throw, gaining postseason qualifying experience.
The Eagles will compete at Franklin and Marshall next week on January 23rd and 24th.
