French Earns Runner-Up Finish at Friday Night INvite
Selinsgrove, Pa. – The Juniata College women's track and field team delivered a strong showing at the Susquehanna Friday Night SHowdown.
Juniata opened the meet in the 4x200-meter relay, where Zoey Zavorotny, Gracie French, Haley Mummah, and Breanne Spencer combined for a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:52.86.
In the sprints, the Eagles had an impressive presence in the 60 meters, advancing three athletes to the final. Gracie French placed second overall with a time of 8.09 seconds, while Zoey Zavorotny finished fourth in 8.40 and Breanne Spencer followed closely in fifth at 8.44. French and Spencer both won their respective heats in prelims, while Zavorotny advanced on time.
In the weight throw, junior Chloe Sauer represented Juniata with a strong series of throws, recording a best mark of 12.45 meters (40-10¼) to place eighth overall in the field.
The Eagles found success in the pole vault, led by junior Josie Kelly, who cleared 3.07 meters (10-0¾) to finish fourth. Kelly consistently cleared early heights before narrowly missing at 3.22 meters.
In the 3,000 meters, sophomore Olivia Brenneman paced Juniata, crossing the line in 11:54.89 to finish ninth overall. Brenneman maintained steady splits throughout the race while competing in a deep distance field.
Juniata closed the meet in the 4x400-meter relay, with the team of Chloe Reilley, Haley Mummah, Rebecca Mensch, and Camille McRoberts placing fifth with a time of 4:33.81. A second Juniata relay of Rae Waight, Emma Arnold, Paige Clemmer, and Abby Rivera Concepcion also competed, finishing eighth in 5:27.22.
Juniata heads back to Susquehanna next Saturday for the Valentine's Invitational.
