Gioiosa, French and McRoberts Dominate at Jim Taylor Duals
Selinsgrove, Pa. - The women's track and field team started out the spring hot at the Jim Taylor Duals hosted by Susquehanna in Selinsgrove.
Gracie Gioiosa was simply elite for the Eagles in Selinsgrove, pulling out a third-place finish in the challenging 3,000 meters Steeplechase. Her time of 12:36.50 falls among the best in Juniata history. She also helped out with the 4x400 meter relay, helping the Eagles to finish in seventh place after a time of 4:28.19 on a cold and windy day. Natalie Osborne, Camille McRoberts, and Bre Spencer accompanied Gioiosa in seventh place.
McRoberts came out flying in the first event of the spring with a tenth-place finish in the 800 meters after a successful winter season. She finished with a time of 2:31.27, closely trailed by Osborne, who finished in 15th with a time of 2:32.27. McRoberts also ran the 1,500 meters at a time of 5:19.27, bagging a 19th-place finish.
Among the usual suspects, Gracie French continued her dominant career with a fourth-place finish in the 100 meters. Her time of 12.75 narrowly beat her teammate Bre Spencer, who finished in 15th with a time of 13.31. French then moved on to the 200 meters, trotting in with a time of 26.33 and a seventh-place finish to end her day.
Olivia Brenneman bagged a top 10 finish as well with a 19:50.74 in the 5,000 meters. Bre Spencer added to her point total with a jump of 4.67 meters and a tenth-place finish.
For the throwers, Chloe Sauer secured a 13th-place finish in the hammer and a 14th-place finish in the discus. Emma Coolidge had a career performance in javelin, finishing in fifth-place after a throw of 34.98 meters.
The Eagles will head back to the Nest before their next meet on April 9th at the Messiah Multi and Invitational.
