Women’s volleyball jumps up one slot on AVCA poll
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College women’s volleyball began the 2012 season ranked 10th on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll but thanks to a 4-0 week of competition, the Eagles moved up a slot to No. 9.
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Juniata College women's volleyball began the 2012 season ranked 10th on the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) preseason poll but thanks to a 4-0 week of competition, the Eagles moved up a slot to No. 9.
With Juniata's wins over Widener, Swarthmore and Frostburg State all in three sets and Haverford in four games, the Eagles managed to bump Eastern to No. 10 who went 3-1 this week.
Christopher Newport and Washington of St. Louis, are knotted at No. 1 with Newport receiving 14 first-place votes and Wash-U earning 10 top slot nods and each with 581 points.
Calvin holds the third spot with 533 points and Emory remained in fourth with 511 points. Defending national champs, Wittenberg, earned 507 points and stayed at No. 5. Cal Lutheran (No. 6), St. Thomas (No. 7), and Hope (No. 8) each stayed-put from the preseason voting.

Juniata plays un-ranked Saint Vincent College tonight in Latrobe, Pa. The match is slated to being at 7:00 p.m.
