Women's Volleyball Puts Six on AVCA All-Region Team
LEXINGTON, Ky.- The Juniata women's volleyball placed six people on the American Volleyball Coaches Association DIII Women's Volleyball All-Region V Team, with Elizabeth Cleveland winning Region V Rookie of the Year honors.
Cleveland adds to her collection of honors after nabbing Landmark All-Conference first team honors and being named Landmark Rookie of the Year. The first-year setter finished second in the Landmark in assists per set, while the team currently sits eighth in the country in assists per set. She's also 11th in assists per set in the conference.
Maggie Hayes was honored as an all-conference first team selection earlier this week after a strong season from the middle. She currently sits second in the conference in hitting percentage (.354) and 14th in the conference in kills. Her hitting percentage is also good for 27th nationally.
Ava Gummer put together a strong junior campaign, joining her teammates on the all-conference first team earlier this week. Gummer finished fifth in the Landmark in kills, while her hitting percentage was good for eighth-best in the Landmark. Her 3.01 points per set is also good for 10th-best in the Landmark.
Molly Mishinkash was dominant in the middle for the Eagles, being named to the all-conference first team. She led the Landmark in hitting percentage at .428, which is good for fourth in the country in hitting percentage. She also sits fifth in the Landmark in blocks per set. She was eighth in kills per set and points per set as well.
Audrey Muth secures her fourth appearance on the AVCA All-Region Team, appearing on the first team for the third straight year. She received an honorable mention as a first-year student. Muth is fourth in the Landmark in kills per set and points per set, and 11th in hitting percentage.
Isabella Rushing was crucial to the Eagles' success so far this season and was honored as the Landmark Specialist of the Year earlier this week. The sophomore libero sits third in the Landmark in digs per set and also is fourth in aces per set.
The #2-seeded Juniata will travel to Virginia Wesleyan to take on the #7-seeded Grove City in the round of 64 of the NCAA Tournament this Thursday at 2:00 PM. The Eagles will look to defend three consecutive national championships as they head into the tournament with a 27-5 record.
