Juniata Drops Road Contest at Susquehanna
Selinsgrove, Pa. – Juniata baseball dropped a Landmark Conference matchup at Susquehanna on Thursday afternoon, falling 5-2.
Susquehanna struck first in the opening inning, using an RBI single from Dylan Heyduk to take a 1-0 lead.
Juniata answered in the second inning, capitalizing on aggressive baserunning to even the score. Matthew Quigley stole home on the play, tying the game at 1-1.
The game remained tied until the sixth inning when Susquehanna broke it open with four runs. Susquehanna added another run later in the inning on a balk to extend the advantage to 5-1.
Juniata cut into the deficit in the eighth inning when David Beard singled to center field to score Zach Johnston, making it 5-2.
The Eagles were limited to four hits in the contest. Beard led the offense with two hits and an RBI, while Charlie Bakken and Landon Blank each added a hit.
On the mound, Connor Blough took the loss, allowing five runs over 5.2 innings while striking out three. Tim Coleman, Krieg Pierce, and Connor Rohm combined to allow no runs over the final 2.1 innings in relief.
Juniata moves to 5-6 overall and 1-3 in Landmark Conference play.
