Walsh Scores Four Against Lions
HUNTINGDON, Pa.- The Juniata men's lacrosse team lost to visiting Albright College, 16-9, Saturday afternoon at Gibbel Stadium.
Liam Walsh tallied four goals, an assist, four ground balls, and a caused turnover, while Max Young totaled a goal, two assists, seven ground balls, and a caused turnover. Dontez Porter had two goals, while Brayden Young had a goal and an assist. Zane Kromer had one goal and an assist as well, while Finn Anderson scooped up nine ground balls. Griffin Umstead made 17 saves in goal.
A mishap by the Lion defense saw Porter score off a Walsh assist a minute and a half into the game. The Lions tied things up five minutes later, before Young found Porter for his second as Juniata led 2-1 after one.
The Lions scored the first goal of the second, and the Eagles answered with a pair of goals from Walsh to retake the lead. Albright once again pulled even with two goals in the final two and a half minutes of the half, with the teams leaving the field tied at 4-4.
The Lions dominated the third, outscoring the Eagles 7-1, as they faced an 11-5 deficit through three quarters.
Juniata mustered three straight goals to open the third through Young, Yeager and Walsh, but couldn't get any closer as the Lions scored enough down the stretch to hold JC at bay.
Juniata won 20-28 faceoffs and picked up more ground balls, 63-39.
The Eagles will begin conference play next Saturday when they travel to play Wilkes, Saturday at 12:00.
